NEXO takes centre stage at JZ Festival
Shanghai Haoyun Intelligent Technology supplied a NEXO loudspeaker system for the mainstage of the 22nd JZ Festival in Shanghai, where more than 100 musicians from over 20 countries and regions performed across a 17-day programme.
Opening on October 16, the festival is the largest in its history, with 146 performances and industry forums taking place across 13 venues. The line-up includes five-time Grammy Award-winner Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers, Chinese singer Yuan Yawei (Tia Ray), American trumpeter Theo Croker, German drummer Wolfgang Haffner and American composer Don Byron.
The mainstage system comprised left and right hangs of six NEXO GEO M12 line array modules, supplemented by MSUB18 subwoofers for low-frequency reinforcement. P15 point source speakers were deployed to cover the front rows.
Shanghai Haoyun sales and marketing manager Alvin Lu said that the team implemented the P15 point source speakers to make sure that front–row audience members also enjoy a rich, clear and detail–preserving listening experience.
“This fills in the coverage gaps that exist in the near-field area of the main sound system and ensures that the sound pressure distribution is more uniform and consistent across the entire venue,” he explained. “As far as stage sound reinforcement is concerned, NEXO PS15 full-range speakers provide musicians with a precise listening environment. The PS Series’ classic stage presence and high gain front end feedback suppression ensure that every musician can clearly monitor their own performance and the band’s nuances, allowing them to perform freely during improvisation and to establish a seamless rapport with the audience.”
Shanghai Haoyun, which serves as the brand’s exclusive fixed-installation agent in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, also provided technical support throughout the project. Its team handled equipment transportation, installation and system commissioning, calibrating the system to the site’s acoustic characteristics and performance requirements. The team worked with the festival organisers to complete the system handover, with the aim of maintaining consistent loudspeaker performance throughout the event.
