BeamZ and beamZ Pro fixtures provided the stage effects and site illumination for Germany’s Umsonst & Draußen Festival, with Great Stage Events deploying a lighting rig designed to accommodate the event’s varied musical programme, from rock and metal to pop and traditional German music.
Artur Grauberger and his technical production team selected a combination of moving heads, wash fixtures, strobes and blinders to deliver different lighting effects across the performances, alongside fixtures for illuminating the wider festival grounds.
The stage rig comprised eight Ignite300A moving heads, eight MHL1912 fixtures, four Ignite740 wash moving heads, nine LCB300 fixtures, four BS1100IP units, four SB400 fixtures and two SB220IP blinders.
The Ignite300A moving heads provided dynamic beam effects and gobo projections, allowing the team to vary the lighting throughout the performances. Four Ignite740 fixtures were positioned for side lighting, with their built-in CTO (colour temperature orange) channel enabling adjustments to colour temperature. Four BS1100IP fixtures delivered strobe effects and wide light output, illuminating larger areas of the stage and contributing to the lighting effects during performances.
Beyond the stage, beamZ fixtures were also used to illuminate the festival grounds, bars, entrance and backstage areas. This part of the installation included three additional LCB300 fixtures, 10 Starcolor72 units and eight Starcolor128 units. The Starcolor fixtures were equipped with frost filters to provide broad, even illumination across the various locations.
The combination of beamZ and beamZ Pro fixtures allowed Great Stage Events to address the contrasting requirements of live performance lighting and general site illumination within the festival environment.
