digiLED names former Sony executive to lead Japanese operations
digiLED has appointed former Sony executive Toshihiko Ohnishi as a director of digiLED Asia, strengthening its regional leadership team as the company looks to expand its presence in Japan. Ohnishi will oversee compliance with Japanese laws and regulations relating to installations, electrical work and other operational requirements. He will also support the wider Asian business, drawing on his international management experience to improve internal processes, service standards and staff development.
Ohnishi began his career at Sony in 1979 after studying electronic engineering at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. During almost four decades with the company, he held several senior international positions, including managing director of Sony's Professional Division for Asia, based in Hong Kong, president of Professional Solutions of America at Sony Electronics and senior vice president of Sony Corporation in Japan.
Following his retirement from Sony in 2017, he took on board and advisory positions, including with Felica Networks and companies involved in developing 4K and 8K content creation workflows for broadcasters and other professional markets.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Toshihiko Ohnishi to the digiLED Asia team,” commented Jon Perkins, group technical sales manager and digiLED Asia board member. “His appointment shows our commitment to building strong foundations as we look to further increase our reach in the Japanese market, as well as adding experience to our global leadership team.”
Perkins added that the appointment would support digiLED's growth plans while strengthening service delivery and regulatory compliance across the region. Ohnishi will also mentor members of the digiLED team, applying his experience in product development, marketing, sales and operations to the company's expanding Asian business.
