South Africa:

Growing demand for practical AV networking skills has prompted Prosound to deliver a series of Dante training sessions throughout South Africa, with events held in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban during October. Led by Prosound's Dwaine Schreuder, the sessions took place at the company's Johannesburg head office on 8–9 October, The Blik Theatre in Cape Town on 15 October and The Playhouse Company Theatre Complex in Durban on 20 October.

Rather than focusing on a specific Dante certification level, the programme was designed around practical applications and the challenges encountered by South African AV professionals. Training materials were developed specifically for the local market, drawing on Prosound's experience of providing technical support across different sectors.

Participants included professionals from rental and staging, unified communications, broadcast, houses of worship, education and theatre. The sessions combined networking theory with hands-on experience of Dante AV products, helping attendees understand how the technology can be applied in real-world installations and productions.

Prosound has previously hosted Dante certification preparation courses and official certification sessions delivered by Audinate trainers. According to the company, Dante remains one of its most requested training subjects, with increasing interest in application-based learning.

“It was incredible to see the light bulb moments as participants moved from theory to practice,” commented Schreuder.

Freelancer and church volunteer Shantel Mwale highlighted the practical benefits of the training. “As a church volunteer, I was also able to look at our rack and finally understand how everything flows through Dante.”

The company has confirmed plans to host further Dante certification training in early 2027, led by one of its own technical specialists.
