Precision clocking, expanded analogue connectivity and revised protection circuitry feature in RME's ADI-2/4 Pro EX, the latest generation of its AD/DA converter and mastering hub for studio, broadcast and measurement applications.

The unit incorporates an ES9823Pro A/D converter and ES9039Q2M D/A converter from ESS, alongside RME's SteadyClock EX technology. The internal clock is factory-calibrated to ±1ppm, with user-adjustable sampling rate fine-tuning of ±50ppm in 0.1ppm increments to support synchronisation with external equipment without a dedicated word clock connection.

Analogue inputs now offer reference levels down to -35dBu, allowing direct connection of dynamic microphones. RIAA equalisation is also available in Line mode, while selectable balanced input impedances of 94kΩ and 47kΩ support matching with balanced moving magnet cartridges.

Connectivity includes a new lockable USB-C connector with USB 2.0 compatibility. Additional features include a dedicated ground terminal, independent DC protection for each headphone output and fuse-less power supply protection against reverse polarity and overvoltage.

The ADI-2/4 Pro EX also retains RME's Extended Linear Analog Range (ELAR) technology, combining converter architecture and filtering to maintain signal integrity across the analogue signal path. Monitoring options have been expanded with the ability to select ADAT channels 3/4 directly as a headphone source. The unit is compatible with the RM19-III rackmount adapter and is available now.
